Annals of Awesomeness
The Annals of Awesomeness is an attempt to keep track of the many awesome things that I’ve been blessed with. Far to often are we prone to forget the many great things in life and focus on the darker side of life. I will not have that for I -have- been blessed with much.
2008
June 21 - Mt. Si |
June 8 - Exploring Ballard |
May 6 - Aaron’s 18th birthday | His family and ‘the usual suspects’ all got together and ate at The Keg. Dressing for the occasion, we all came in our blazers and more formal clothing to welcome Aaron into the society of Men.
March 25 to April 2 - Vacation in Hawaii |
March 24 - 20th Birthday in Palm Springs | My parents and I flew to California to spend the day in Palm Springs with my grandparents and my aunt and uncle on my mom’s side. We took the tram up the mountain there and enjoyed the view. It was great being able to spend time with my grandparents. I haven’t been able to do so as much as I’d like due to my busy schedule. Rawr…
March 22 - 20th Birthday Bash | Twenty or so of my closest friends all come over to celebrate my 20th birthday in "jovial board game fashion." Yes, I veered from the traditional LAN party (*gasp* a Guardian breaking tradition? Unheard of!) in favor of a more open and inclusive alternative. It brought a tear to my one good eye. Party started at 4p Saturday and the last couple people left at 3a Sunday.
March 7 - Rain City Hymnal Concert | The release celebration of Mars Hill’s first studio-quality cd in several years. Despite various complications, we made it. The concert was amazing.
February 18 - President’s Day | In celebration of our day off, Josh, Nat, Brandon, and I decided to make our epic raid of Seattle. Our mission, having multiple objectives, was a success. We found Dick’s burgers and explore the Ballard locks.
February 14 - Valentine’s Day | Traditionally I would celebrate Valentine’s day in the form of Single Appreciation Day where I would invite various friends over onto the school campus and play games. One year we had an epic Risk tournament and another we played games such as Apples to Apples. Apples to Apples is always a good choice to show the difference between the thought of men and women. This year I didn’t have the opportunity to continue my noble tradition as I was working instead of actually going to class this year. However at Quiz we more then made up for it. Devon organized foodstuffs for our Valentine’s party. I don’t quite remember the reasoning for chili and cornbread but that’s what our party consisted of with brownies and cake for desert. We also took mug shots of each other in typical criminal sorting fashion. Good times.
February 7 to 9 - Snake River | Despite the many complications getting there, we made it. And safely to boot. Many a snowball was thrown and even if we didn’t dominate in the actual match, we did in spirit and in play.
February 3 - Superbowl Party | Hosted at the Mottaz residence. First time that I’ve been able to enjoy the event with a number of my friends. Typically the game is watched for the commercials but I think this year a lot of people actually did watch the game. I half-watched as I played various board games. And the ending of the game was pretty good too. Switching things around, several times during the last minute of gameplay? Very good.

December 31 - New Year’s Eve Bash | I’m glad that we chose to move the Global Domination Party to a later date and go ahead with a less exclusive event. Being able to share the end of the year with all my friends… so awesome.
December 15 - Quiz Christmas Party | Hosted by Ana, filled with polka music and dancing headbobbing
October 20 - World Quiz | "Most Inspirational Quizzer" award, what? My last opportunity quizzing in official competition. Afterwards we went to a Lincoln Brewster concert hosted by Eastridge and then to the Mottaz’s residence for dinner and to hang out. The concert was very powerful.
September 15 - Tyler’s Wedding | I’m so glad that I was able to make his wedding. It is an honor to consider him as a friend and was even more so to be able to bear witness to his pledge of never ending faithfulness. This was during the week’s long period of no sleep for me so I was dozing off during the reception but at least I made it. Alas, Coreman-kun didn’t bring the Onyxia-wannabe plushie like I told him to offer as a wedding present but it was all good.
August 19 to September 11 - In Japan | Aug 25 Partying with the locals, Sept 1 Mt. Fuji, Sept 2 World Con and Yokohama, Sept 8-9 Kyoto. Japan was very, very awesome. I had the time of my life there. It was a great experience. I met some cool people who shared the flat with me as well as an awesome local who revealed more of Japan then I would’ve been able to see by my lonesome. Sometime I hope to return with some more friends.
July 26 to 28 - Creationfest | This was the first time that I had gone to Creation and I only was able to go due to people opening the way for me. And what a blessing it was. Creation was very awesome. I am totally going the next year.
July 21 - Cancellation of my WoW account | Enjoyed the time I spent, met many great people, but it’s time to move to a more fulfilling life to which I have been called.
June 15 - Finished my stay at Bellevue Community College.
May 18 to 20 - Chris’ Wedding - "First time that everyone has gotten together (on my mom’s side) in one place since 1994." From conception to implementation, the wedding process was two weeks. And so the first of my generation has bound himself in holy matrimony. I don’t see my other cousin (his older sister), taking "the plunge…" ever… so I ’spect that I’ll be the next. Unless my siblings surpass me which I rather doubt. I was really glad that I was able to wrangle work schedules around so that I could come. Being able to attend and serve my cousin on such a wondrous day is something that I won’t forget.
April 15 - Received acceptance letter to the University of Washington.
