If a bowl is square does that still qualify it to be a bowl? If it’s not a bowl then what do I call the form of breakfast that I’m eating? "Yeah… After I’m done with my square of cereal I’ll go help ya out."

    Apparently its a square round from tupperware. Atleast that is what your grandma told me =).

    Last camping trip…
    “Grandma, why is my bowl square?”
    “Its a square-round from Tupperware!”
    “I still don’t think its a real bowl…”

    A bowl must be round. A rectangular or square container is a box.

  3. John Says:

    No. Read above. Bowls can be round square!

    @Rabenstrange:
    So then I’ll be referring to my form of breakfast as a “box of cereal?” Doesn’t a box require a lid?

    @John:
    “As soon as I finished my square-round of cereal” sounds lame too! It does however make sense to me.

    Lame! If only the dishes were actually done in the morning then I wouldn’t have this dilemma!

  5. Tage Says:

    I think it would be a box… Google defines it as “a (usually rectangular) container; may have a lid.”

    I believe you John. But I still wouldn’t call that a real bowl you were just a using the Tupperware as a substitute for one because you didn’t have access to a real bowl at the time. (If thats what you were really using..)

    So I’d call it: your Tupperware of cereal!

    Tub of cereal? Container of cereal? Bucket of cereal? I think you can say whatever you want.

    All of my sisters ‘bowls’ are square, and we just say bowl.

    You’re all just being overly technically.

  8. Ana Says:

    Like I said ‘technically’ instead of ‘technical?’

    I’ve only been out of school for a few hours and my brain is already failing me…

    Get over the spelling errors. They give my comments character.
