This holiday has been rather busy and hectic for me. I thought I would have much more free time once the school quarter ended but somehow all these events started filling up my schedule. Not that I’m complaining. I’m rather fortunate to be able to meet together with friends and family and share such wonderful times. Once school resumes I’ll have to fight back the drudgery of the work/school routine that’ll quickly sap my spirit. Though I am forming plans for events that’ll mix things up a little.

Day of the LAN

Last Friday me and the gang all got together to celebrate Zylo’s 18th birthday in our traditional manner: blowing each other into virtual fragments of their virtual self. Eleven of us all grabbed their computers and brought it over to a central location for the LAN party.

While somewhat of an effort to take down and reassemble our desktops, over the years I’ve pretty much gotten it down to a science. And since I upgraded to a LCD I pretty much halved the weight there. We played games of Team Fortress 2, Warcraft 3, and various other games through out the night.

Typically we have problems getting enough people to play games but that most certainly was not the problem this time around. We had problems finding games that would allow us to fit everyone in. Having that problem is not bad at all~

Birthday Party and Zoo Lights

Immediately after the LAN party, my little brother and I took Rabenstrange back to his domicile before rushing to meet our family at the Olive Garden for my sister’s birthday. I really like the the Olive Garden. Last year we were able to go for New Years as a Christmas gift from my aunts and grandma. This year they presented us with the same gift and it was very much appreciated. Due to conflicting schedules, I rarely see both my parents at the same time let alone each with the entire family.

Following dinner, we drove over to the Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma to see the Zoo Lights. One of my friends mentioned the Zoo Lights and I had really wanted to go but I couldn’t figure out when. Thankfully my parents quickly fixed that. Half the zoo was closed off as it was dark but we really didn’t go to see the animals. The light display they had was pretty amazing. I really enjoyed going. I’m kind of kicking myself though as my battery for my camera died halfway through. I’m thinking I should get myself an extra battery as I get the spare cash. If I’m going to continue with photography as a hobby (which I will) then that’ll be a somewhat useful acquisition.

As it was cheaper, my parents got a membership for our family so I can go back next year for "free." I am totally going to take advantage of that and along with being able to enter any number of times I desire, I can bring up to three friends each visit. I foresee more trips to the zoo in the future. Yosh!

Christmas

I already mentioned how our Christmas Eve went so I won’t go into details there. Christmas Day was the polar opposite of Eve. Instead of being hectic and pure madness (Madness? This.. is… Sparta!), it was rather slow and boring. I could’ve managed the entirety of the deli by my lonesome but thankfully my awesome crew was with me. I managed to save many people’s Christmases as they came to me somewhat frantic as they had nothing in store for their dinner. I managed to cobble some dinners together despite having sold out of all the kits the night before. That was a nice feeling there.

When I got home, I was almost immediately contacted by Rabenstrange and we pulled together an impromptu Christmas party filled with games of Apples to Apples and Risk. Being rather quickly planned and implemented, some miscommunication occurred but everything worked out. For the first time in a long while I managed to actually do decently in Risk, gaining the cards and territories that I needed to advance. If it weren’t for the time constraint that I had as well as my desire not to totally mess things up, I’m pretty sure I could’ve won that game. Being able to play back to back mix packets certainly helps.

Oh! Also this was the first white Christmas that I’ve ever had! Not much snow but still the principle of the thing! What an awesome Christmas!

Future Events

The only things left planned for the holiday is a quiz movie party tomorrow at church and an epic New Year’s Eve party at my house. Well… It won’t be quite as epic as I had alluded to earlier as I realize that I rather share the end of the year with all my friends instead of a few of them but I believe it’ll turn out much better this way then the other. And the World Domination Party will still occur… just at a later date.

Gerhalt and I were also throwing around the idea of going up to the pass to go sledding but that’s still in the formulation process and we’re not quite sure whether we’ll do it Friday or sometime later during the new quarter. I guess if I don’t do that then I’ll go to a Halo party with the lil’ brother. Heh… Isn’t it stereotypically the younger brother trying to get into the older brother’s parties instead of the other way?
