A useful suggestion for maximizing storage space found in the comments @ lifehacker. “The space above an open garage door is perfect for a floating rack. With very little effort, I have built racks that are perfect storage for winter/summer tires. Simply screw some eye hooks into the studs above and with about 12″ of chain you can hang a rack that hangs in the space above the open door.” I think I’ll look into that for our house~
