- Abort, Abort, Abort!
Mood: More then slightly agitated…
I am not pleased. Not pleased at all.
I got up at the godforsaken hour of 4am, navigated to the overnight vehicle drop off point even with faulty directions, and entered the airport with plenty of time to spare. And yet I’m back home.
My initial flight was with Delta. I got there and they didn’t have someone to check me in so I had to stay on their customer service line for 40 minutes before I got a response. After going through that the nice lady found out that the person who scheduled my flight had put down July 29 instead of June 29. Obviously this doesn’t quite work. Now that probably wouldn’t have been a big deal but apparently today through Sunday, Delta has an embargo, a black out weekend, against ticket types such as myself. My Mom works at Alaska so we can get free or cheap standby tickets with either her airline or many of the other ones.
So Delta wasn’t an option… I called up my parents and we went to the next step to get me over there with them. I went over to the Alaska Customer Service counter which was on the complete opposite end of the airport (which I found to be the case with everything today…) and got a standby pass for a flight to Newark. If I had made it there, my dad would’ve driven 5 hours to come pick me up this being that important.
I completely forgot that this was a holiday weekend for travel so everything was busy. All the planes that I tried to catch were overbooked and a lot of people who had paid full price (they have priority over us~) didn’t get on either. I went over to Continental and tried my luck with them but with no success. I had to go through security again for them to get specially searched too… I just ran all over the airport trying to catch flights but that was all in vain. The last plane I tried to catch was an hour delayed and they kept changing the terminal numbers on us every 15 minutes…
As there were no more flights until tomorrow, I went home and I’m just going to have to call off my attendance at the reunion which makes me sad. I had made lots of arrangements to make it work and I was really looking forward to it. There will be many people there now that I won’t have an opportunity to meet with at the next reunion. And to add insult to injury I am so tired and very dangerously irritable…
Apparently I can help out at the fireworks stand after all… Hopefully the flight to and from Japan won’t be as much of a problem~

Hey, I guess life just sucks sometimes. But, at least it gets better eventually. Your trip to Japan should be better. Matthew hasn’t had any major problems so far…

Yeah, most likely the trip to Japan will not be that big of a deal. I was trying to go back to the east coast on one of the three busiest times in the year for travel. That was a mistake. *smile*

And in hindsight… yes… that it was rather difficult. But I made it~
