- Communication Project - Wordpress Style
For my communication online class we had a final group project in which our goal was to write about a “two-tiered society based on the information haves and have nots” in relation to technology and/or new communication methods.
For this project I decided that I wanted to go a different route then the ever so popular powerpoint presentation. While powerful in it’s own way, it is overused and, even worse, incorrectly used by the college population. So I decided to experiment with a report using wordpress after being inspired by BijanBlog. Basically it makes your report more of an exhibit similar to what our online teacher used to present his lectures.
I am quite pleased with how it turned out visually but when it came down to crunch time, we failed in our presentation of the actual data. You know… the important part. We had divided up our topic into parts and were supposed to submit our individual write-ups to me to compile it all. Apparently there was some confusion as to what needed to be done and the like so I didn’t get as much data as I would have liked.
However it’s all good as we got a decent grade. The main remarks about it was that we failed to combine our presentation with images which I fully agree that we should have. Images do add a lot to presentations.
Anyways if you’d like to see our presentation on the “Future of Information”, it’s located here. I really liked the “Theoretical Timeline” section. I was really surprised by that one as it was really far out but it’s pretty good. That timeline queues the beginning of The Postman. The Postman was a pretty good book if I recall correctly.
Mmm… Now I want to reread The Postman…

Nice work. A bit plain but with more work put into aesthetics, that looks to be a very effective method to make an online presentation.
